Our Adventure in Puerto Rico

The Canario Inn is a small hotel classified as a B&B that I would compare to an "old" German gasthaus.  The beds were acceptable but the stairs were like climbing up the steep stairs of a light house.

If you stood between the toilet and the sink (which was right in front of the toilet), you could not turn around.  You had to step out of the bathroom or into the shower to turn around.

OK - it was a place to sleep with a "Continental Breakfast" that was "como si, como sa".

Since the advertised price for a tour to the El Yunque Rainforest was $65, decided we could rent a car for the four of us for two days @ $49 per day and have transportation and get to see the rain forest.

The trip to El Yunque was an adventure!  The maps we had were pretty worthless and the twists and turns were really a challenge.  The narrow streets had two way traffic (sometimes) with cars parked on both sides headed both ways makes you wonder if you are going the wrong way on a one way street.

El Yunque is a magnificent rainforest.

The visitor center had an abundance of information in both Spanish and English.

Some of the beautiful flowers.

Breadfruit - quinine and cortizone are made from this fruit.  We decided we should just eat it in its natural form and save a lot of money.

Tall trees with many vines

Rain forest = rain = water = waterfalls

Don't you wish your bamboo grew like this?

Just to prove we were there.

These turrets are one of the logos of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The fort of El Morro withstood all but one of the many attacks for many hundreds of years.
